ACCOMMODATIONS:

I have reserved a group of interior (category 4C), ocean view (category 6C), and balcony (category 8C) staterooms. If anyone wants to book a 3rd or 4th person in their stateroom, let me know and I will get the exact fare for them. 3rd and 4th passengers pay considerably less than the 1st and 2nd. Keep in mind, though, that these cabins are small. Imagine 3 or 4 women using one bathroom in the morning. (Enough said?)

COSTS:

  • INTERIOR staterooms (category 4C) are $387.25 per person, double occupancy, including all taxes and port fees.
  • OCEAN VIEW staterooms (category 6C) are $454.85 per person, double occupancy, including all taxes and port fees.
  • BALCONY staterooms (category 8C) are $569.85 per person, double occupancy, including all taxes and port fees.
  • In addition, each stateroom receives $75.00 in Onboard Credit. (This amount is divided evenly between the first two passengers in the cabin.)
  • During the cruise, $10 per day is automatically added to your account to tip the hard-working staff. You can adjust this amount if you like during the cruise. The Onboard Credit will almost cover your gratuities.

DEPOSITS AND DUE DATES:

  • A deposit of $200.00 per person reserves a specific stateroom for your cruise. Once you pay your deposit, your fare is locked in at these rates.
  • Final payment of the balance is not due until 7/18/2011 (although you can make periodic payments until then if you prefer).
  • Your deposit is 100% refundable until the final payment date.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This cruise is what the government refers to as a "closed loop" cruise, meaning it departs from and returns to the same port. Technically, you do not need a passport to sail on a closed loop cruise. You can use your drivers license and birth certificate. HOWEVER, you cannot FLY into the US from any of these ports without a passport. In the event that you needed to return home before or after the ship returns (due to an emergency at home or illness/injury during the cruise), you would not be allowed to fly. For this reason, I strongly urge you to obtain a passport if you do npt already have a passport. I also encourage you to apply for one sooner rather than later for two reasons: 1) It can take several weeks to get a passport; and 2) The cost may go up soon from $100 to $135.

ABOUT OUR PORTS OF CALL:

GRAND TURK
is an island in the Turks & Caicos Islands. It is the largest of the Turks Islands and also the capital. The population is about 3700. In 2006 the Grand Turk Cruise Center was opened by Carnival. The Cruise Center includes shops, restaurants (including a Margaritaville with swim-up bar), a gorgeous beach, and lots of water activities. Many visitors to Grand Turk never leave the Cruise Center. You can visit the Grand Turk Cruise Center web site to learn more about the facilities. Be sure to view the pictures in the Image Gallery.

HALF MOON CAY is a private island owned by Holland America, a division of Carnival. Ships from both lines visit the island, which is considered by many to be the best of the cruise line-owned islands. Here you can watch a short video taken by The Amateur Traveler (Chris Christensen) during a visit to Half Moon Cay:

NASSAU, the capital and largest city in the Bahamas, is located on the island of New Providence. Nassau is the most popular port of call in the Bahamas. It has gorgeous beaches, a downtown that any jewelry lover will adore, and plenty of bars and restaurants (including American fast food YES!!) You can also spend the day at Atlantis or take a catamaran to one of the small nearby islands known for great snorkeling. Or, if you are sunburned from the previous two days of beach activities, you can enjoy the nearly empty ship.

As we get closer to our sail date, I will send everyone information about shore excursions available in each of these ports.
